Comedian Miranda Hart has a running joke in her BBC comedy "Miranda" where her friend holds up a cardboard cut out of Heather Small on a stick and asks, "What have you done today to make you feel proud?", impersonating Heather. A rumour circulated suggesting Heather bought Miranda a puppy to say thanks for increasing Heather's album sales through the show, however Heather stated she would never buy anyone a living gift.

 Following the skits success, Heather Small and Miranda fans worldwide started popping up on facebook and twitter with their very own Heather Small on a stick asking that infamous question.

Heather performs at Marshall Scholar alumni reception

Heather Small provided the entertainment at the Marshall Scholar alumni reception on Wednesday 3rd May  at the US Supreme Court. The event was attended by speaker Prince Charles and was in aid of the British Forces Fund and America's United Service Organisations.

Heather Small will join forces with London Wasps in their annual charity St George's Day Game at Twickenham on April 23

Share London Wasps have confirmed that British soul singer Heather Small will be part of their annual St George's Day Game against Bath Rugby at Twickenham Stadium on Easter Saturday, April 23. The singer is best known for her signature song "Proud" which was a hit record around the world in 2000, as well as other favourites from her time in the band M People including "Search for the Hero".

Following last year's hugely successful event, which attracted more than 60,000 fans, the St George's Day Game will once again raise money for military charities. London Wasps are donating £1 from every ticket sold to four special charities: BLESMA, Combat Stress, the Special Boat Service Association and The Parachute Regiment.

Speaking on the event, London Wasps owner Steve Hayes said, "As we build towards this extremely special date in the Wasps and London sporting calendar, it is fantastic to be able to announce such an exciting part of the match day entertainment. Heather is a tremendously talented and much loved artist whose songs evoke great emotion and passion amongst people of all ages. We believe that she will be a wonderful addition to the day."

As well as the penultimate Round 21 fixture in the Aviva Premiership season, between London Wasps and Bath Rugby, the club will be hosting a full day of activities and entertainment for families. Hayes added, "This year's event will be even more special given that the match actually falls on St George's Day this year, but it is also Easter Saturday and just six days before William and Kate's wedding. We anticipate people will want to spend time with their families and friends, and that patriotism will be running high as the country builds up to the Royal Wedding."

Last year's event saw thousands of St George's flags, children with painted faces and moving tributes to the armed forces, including a standing ovation for almost 200 soldiers who had recently returned from active service in Afghanistan. The West Car Park will once again offer inflatable rugby games for children, a DJ, food and drink stalls and interactive military displays.

Cavern Walks shopping centre has teamed up with a host of celebrities from across the UK to launch a Christmas campaign for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The boutique shopping centre, located on Mathew Street, is donating a Christmas tree, complete with 12 baubles each signed with a festive message from a celebrity.

The Christmas tree and baubles will be donated to Alder Hey Children's Hospital this December and will take pride of position for staff, patients and family to see in the cafeteria. Celebrities queuing up to sign the baubles include Gok Wan, who was in Liverpool this week to film Channel 4's Gok Fashion Fix, and Spice Girl Mel C, who is currently starring in Willy Russell's Blood Brothers at the Liverpool Empire Theatre.

Dame Shirley Bassey fans have a last chance to become the owner of a pair of the singing sensation's shoes and help vulnerable children at the same time.

The singer's donation to national children's charity Barnardo's has kicked off a bidding war among fans keen to secure the size six diamante-encrusted Yves Saint Laurent high heels.

With only a week to go until the silent auction closes next Friday, fans are being encouraged to make their final bids as quickly as possible.

Also for sale by silent auction and soon-to-be snapped up is a stunning outfit worn by Joan Collins' alter ego Alexis in the 80s soap opera smash Dynasty.

Gerard Cousins, director of retail and trading for Barnardo's, said: "This is a chance of a lifetime for someone to own a pair of designer shoes owned by one of the biggest singing sensations we have ever known.

"And some lucky person is also set to become the owner of a unique outfit worn by acting legend Joan Collins.

"The people who win these items will also know that their generous bid has helped to support disadvantaged children across the UK."

Dame Shirley and Joan Collins were among an array of stars and fashion icons who trawled through their wardrobes and donated glamorous outfits to support Barnardo's in the run up to Christmas. Other donations came from comedian Julian Clary, singers Alesha Dixon and Rachel Stevens, electro-pop ban La Roux, model Laura Bailey, 80s pop stars Lisa Stansfield and Carol Decker and M-People singer Heather Small.

The clothes and accessories flew off the shelves at the Barnardo's pop-up store in Carnaby Street and so far have raised £15,000.

All money raised from the silent auction and the Carnaby Street pop-up shop goes towards Barnardo's vital work in turning around the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK. This includes work with children affected by today's most urgent issues: poverty, homelessness, disability, bereavement and abuse.

UNITE TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER CHARITY

On Wednesday 9th December 2009 David Cakes unveiled his latest masterpiece to a select group of VIP visitors at Chester Cathedral. The six feet tall, larger than life, sugar sculpture of M-People star Heather Small was on display to a lucky group of guests who attended the Macmillan Cancer Support carol concert hosted by Smooth Radio presenter Steve Collins. Heather Small was delighted with the work of art and autographed her “own arm” whilst guests chatted with Heather and David about the creation.

David has been a strong supporter of Macmillan for over 25 years and has become more involved with the charity since his dad Roy was diagnosed with, and sadly died of, cancer in 2002. In addition to providing a cake for the annual Christmas raffle, David decided to do something completely different this year and created his greatest challenge to date. The sugar sculpture of Heather was completed in just 12 days and he was working just from a single photograph, having never previously met the star. The sculpture will be on display in the David Cakes of Distinction shop in Crosby for the foreseeable future whilst plans are finalised for promoting its prominence in order to raise money for Macmillan. The larger than life sculpture is believed to a world first to be created in sugar paste. Whilst many stars are immortalised in wax, Heather Small is now immortalised in sugar (although it would be perfectly possible to eat her!)

Heather to appear on "Millionare - Celeb Special" Tuesday, 8th September 09

Heather Small will appear in a celebrity charity version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" this Tuesday (8th September) partnered with Mark Foster. It will be aired at 8pm on ITV.

Regarding the show, Chris Tarrant said: "I always think that the celebrities who come on the show are incredibly brave and my heart is usually in my mouth for them! It's bad enough when you're gambling with your own money but when the money at stake is for charity it's terrifying. It's never as easy when you get out there as it looks at home."

Heather Small to feature on Children In Need Charity Single

Heather Small is one of the artists to provide vocals on new album, "Bandaged Together" in aid of Children In Need 2009.

"We have now started work on BANDAGED TOGETHER and all being well, it will be released at the end of October or beginning of November, all in aid of BBC Children in Need.

At this early stage I can not give too much away, but I can tell you that our wonderful producer AD Chivers has managed to involve some of the top names in music in a recording at Abbey Road.

"Celebrity Cashiers" Heather Small volenteers in Barnardo's

Heather Small and Swimmer Mark Foster were volunteering at Barnado's Vintage Boutique on the 3rd of March. The two celebs from Strictly Come Dancing were working in the shop for Barnardo's to highlight the need for volunteers to work in their stores. They were later joined by Nicky Hambleton-Jones and Laura Bailey.
